Knowledge is Potential Power

Education is Freedom

Today was one of those days where I was distracted.  First day back in the office since before the holidays.  Had plans for things I wanted to do this evening, but instead chilled listening to podcasts and watching tv.  It is not often that I find myself just vegging in front of the tv but tonight I did much of that.

I find I spend a lot of time listening to books and podcasts, reading websites, and watching videos.  Often I find too much time with not enough follow up.  Ryan ends today’s meditation with “Knowledge — self-knowledge in particular — is freedom.”  That right there is enough to meditate on today.

We so often hear the saying ‘Knowledge is power’, but as Jim Kwik says, “Knowledge is potential power, it only becomes power when you use it.”

“What is the fruit of these teachings?  Only the most beautiful and proper harvest of the truly educated – tranquility, fearlessness, and freedom.  We should not trust the masses who say only the free can be educated, but rather the lovers of wisdom who say that only the educated are free.”
